General Studio Information

Liminal currently welcomes intermediate and advanced dancers ages 11–17. Have a younger dancer (ages 8–10) eager to join? We’d love to hear from you. As interest grows, we plan to open classes for this next age group.

Choose your Labs from our schedule and follow the prompts in Studio Pro to enroll. First time here? Create a parent/guardian account, add your dancer(s), and complete the waiver and autopay setup. Need help? Email transform@liminalintegrativearts.org.

Yes! Trial classes are available for most Labs. Book a trial through our schedule or contact us to find the best fit. Trials help us confirm placement and goals before you commit.

Dancers should wear form-fitting dancewear that allows full range of motion and supports proper alignment. Please avoid loose layers that block visibility of movement. Hair must be secured away from the face so dancers can focus fully without distraction.

Wear appropriate footwear for each style (e.g., ballet slippers for Ballet, contemporary shoes or Apollas for Contemporary, and jazz shoes for Jazz). Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during class.

Any class-specific requirements will be noted in the Studio-Pro Portal.

Until we find our permanent home, Liminal Dance Labs is currently operating out of partner studio spaces in Lafayette, Orinda, and Pleasant Hill. We’re proud to collaborate with local studios as we continue to grow and build our forever space.

Training Philosophy & Approach

We’re a complementary training hub built around somatic, artist-centered education. Technique and artistry grow together through creativity labs, mentorship and performance practice—without prioritizing trophies over the dancer’s long-term development.

Scheduling and Attendance

When space allows, we offer make-ups within 30 days of the absence in the same level or an appropriate alternative. Please email us in advance so we can confirm availability.

Keep dancers home if they’re unwell. Let us know as early as you can; we’ll guide you to a make-up option. Extended travel? Email us as some Labs can offer temporary alternatives.

Separate attendance requirements apply to Liminal's Competition Ensemble. Additional information on these requirements will be provided should your dancer join.

We’ll notify families by email and post updates on the site/social channels. If Liminal cancels, we will schedule a make-up or provide a credit where a make-up isn’t feasible.

Competition & Performance

An auditioned, dancer-first company that blends rigorous training with creative exploration and community performance. Members attend select competitions/conventions and represent Liminal’s values of excellence, collaboration and authenticity.

Entry is by evaluation. Please submit your interest from the Ensemble page and we’ll schedule placement time with you.  New dancers meet with our coaching team to confirm readiness, goals and schedule alignment.

Ensemble dancers commit to weekly company rehearsal and required technique Labs during the season so choreography can progress safely and consistently.

Yes. For the 2026–2027 season, Ensemble dancers enroll in Dance Labs: Contemporary Ballet & Pointe, Synergy, Dance Conditioning, Acro Dance, LIT!, plus one weekly rehearsal (minimum 6 classes/week in season). (We’ll publish any updates each season.)

Consistent attendance, clear communication and full participation in scheduled performances and competitions are essential to the success of the Liminal Competitive Ensemble.

If a conflict arises, dancers or families should email the studio as early as possible so we can plan casting and rehearsals responsibly. Dancers are allowed up to three excused rehearsal absences per season. A fourth missed rehearsal results in dismissal from the Ensemble for the remainder of the year.

These expectations reflect our commitment to teamwork, accountability and professional-level preparation.

Yes—performance/competition fees and costumes are separate from tuition. We keep costs transparent and announce deadlines well in advance. Need-based support is available via our Community Access Fund.

Studio Culture & ExpectatiON

We uphold a culture of respect, inclusion, and growth. Dancers arrive prepared, support their peers, and communicate kindly. Families partner with staff on attendance, wellness and performance commitments. Harassment or discrimination is not tolerated.

Tutuion, Fees & Policies

Tuition is based on weekly class hours selected, with pricing displayed on our Tuition page. The more hours you take, the more value per hour. (See Tuition in the main menu for the full table.)

Yes—a non-refundable registration fee supports administration, insurance, and onboarding. Reduced-fee options may be available through our Community Access Fund.

Our hour-based structure already reduces the per-hour rate as you add classes. We periodically offer sibling support through the Community Access Fund—ask us about current options.

Tuition is processed via autopay (monthly) through Studio Pro on a regular billing cycle (shown at checkout). Dancers can choose to pay for the entire season upfront via check, credit card or ACH transfer. You’ll receive email confirmations/receipts for your records.

Log into your Studio Pro account, go to Billing/Autopay, and add or update your card. If a payment fails, you’ll receive an email with a link to resolve it promptly.

Yes. See Community Access Fund for reduced tuition/fees based on need. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and awards depend on available funds.

waivers

Yes. All dancers must have a signed participation, media and liability waiver on file before attending class. You’ll complete this in Studio Pro during enrollment.

Please note conditions during registration and update us if anything changes. For injuries, consult your clinician and share clearance guidelines; we’ll tailor modifications and return-to-dance plans.

Media & Communication

We celebrate our dancers thoughtfully. Media sharing follows our consent settings; families can opt out during registration or at any time by emailing us.

Subscribe on the homepage, watch for Studio Pro emails and follow our social channels. We also post schedule changes on the site banner when needed.

Yes. Use the media consent setting in your account or email us. We respect your choice across website, social and print.

Community & Access

Our Community Access Fund offers reduced tuition/fees for qualifying families. Complete the short application (income and context) and we’ll follow up with available support and next steps.

Donate via our Donate link, ask about employer matching or email us to join event/production volunteer lists. Every gift of time or treasure directly supports dancers.
